The AAG Committee Continue to Work Behind the Scenes

Behind the scenes the Abbey Action Group continue to work for residents opposing Flagship’s regeneration plans.

Good news comes in the shape of former Town, District and County Councillor and now South West Norfolk MP Terry Jermy pledging to continue to work as hard as he can for the cause.

Jermy will push for former MP Liz Truss’ commitment to a meeting between Flagship and landlords to be honoured. For private renters this will hopefully provide a degree of reassurance and certainty.

The AAG will soon be holding a full meeting for residents which Jermy will attend. The importance of a standing MP coming to listen to ALL residents cannot be overstated.

At a recent Committee Meeting it was revealed Thetford Town Council are close to agreeing with a Planning Lawyer to further continue a stated policy of supporting houseowners, tenants and landlords against the Housing Association.

Furthermore, the group have secured the services of a highly competent advocate in the shape of Lorraine Douglas free of charge.

Douglas has worked extensively in London and elsewhere supporting residents against similar schemes and will be a real assert. Thanks must go out to her for her extremely generous offer.

The Committee also wished to note the continued hard work of Kelly Estañol in service of the estate. The Gloucester Way resident has done phenomenal work installing bat-boxes and holding both Breckland and Flagship to account. Thank you Kelly!
