Abbey Action Group Stall on Thetford Market a Success

Residents came out in force to sign petition and chat with volunteers

A stall on Thetford Market went down a storm as residents across the area queued up to find out more about the Flagship regeneration.

Abbey Action Group members were thrilled with the response as well over 300 people signed PETITIONS, looked at options for BAT BOXES and educated themselves regarding the infill scheme and residents’ responses.

Secretary of the group Fiona Kiane hailed a successful first venture into the wider community as she commented: “The interesting thing was just how many people were unaware of what is going on in the heart of their community.

“But we had support from all across town, and the response was really touching. We only came into contact with two unpleasant people but you get that everywhere… despite the rain we wouldn’t let it dampen our day.”

Author of the online PETITION Chloe Taylor echoed Fiona’s positivity as she added: I’m very hopeful this will make a difference and am proud of the way my town has pulled together.”

AAG committee member Neil Spillane added: “It’s given us as a group reassurance people are with us - and we’re very grateful to everybody who came along.”
